39th Annual Vancouver Pride Parade, The parade ran from 12: pm till 2: pm along Robson, down Denman, where I was and then along Beach ending at Sunset Park where the Sunset Beach Festival had been running since 11:00 am in the morning until 6:00 pm. I’ve attended this parade, twice in the last 3 years, and attended many years ago. but this time was very different for me as this was the first time I went to the Parade as an out Queer, Bi, Pansexual cis man where I felt free to express who I am and enjoy a real Happy Pride. It was so awesome to see so many colorful people so excited, so happy, and positive. everyone saying ” Happy Pride” to people all day, and actually I kept hearing Happy Pride through out all the pride events. It was so uplifting.
There were 500,000 to 600,000 people in town this day for the parade and events surrounding it. From past experience I decided to get into town early and plunk my chair down on the sidewalk to claim my space early around 10:00 in the morning right in front of my favourite coffee shop on Denman, so then I also claimed a spot on the outside table behind my chair, enjoyed some breakfast food, coffee, read the paper and just enjoyed watching the people gather till the parade started.
After the parade was over, I made my way down to the Sunset Beach Festival where there was of course the inevitable food trucks, I had to eat of course. The inevitable booths, music stage, where I danced for a while. I then met up with a Friend Chills from Chilliwack, and some of her friends, just sat on the ground and just enjoyed the atmosphere. Chills brought her guitar as she played as well as one of her friends, Chills and her friends also worked the hula hoops as well. All in All a fantastic day!
I took so many pictures, 665 actually, so i pretty well got the whole parade. I decided to break them up into several posts to make loading easier in the browser.
